Obituary for Joseph P. Maranzano Sr.

Joseph P. Maranzano Sr., age 95, lifelong resident of Columbus Twp., passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023. He was born on May 3, 1928 to the late Phillip and Rose Maranzano. Joseph honorably served in the Army National Guard for 18 years. On October 30, 1948, he married Janet Ankrapp, who preceded him in death on October 6, 2010. Joseph worked for Grand Trunk and CN Railroads as an engineer of track for 39 years. He was a lifelong member of the Richmond Sportsman Club as well as the Pine River Sportsman Club. In his younger days, Joseph was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish. He was an amateur gunsmith. He especially enjoyed trap and pistol shooting. Above all, Joseph truly cherished the time he spent with his family, especially with his grand children and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Joseph (Denise) Maranzano Jr., Phillip (Candy) Maranzano, Martin Maranzano, Tina (Larry) Ruhlman; grandchildren, Brent (Rebekah) Maranzano, William Maranzano, Elizabeth Maranzano, Larry (Heather) Ruhlman Jr., Daniel (Nikki) Ruhlman, Amanda (James) Provost; 13 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Tom Ferra.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Nina, Josephine, Rosemary, Frances.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours will be Monday, October 16th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Interment to be at Kittridge Cemetery, Columbus Twp.
